Moon the film review: Self doubt in outer space

Moon (2009) — A gut-wrenching identity crisis unfolds as a solitary moon miner (Sam Rockwell) suffers an accident that reveals the truth about his supposed life. I won’t spoil the film by revealing more about his dilemma. I wavered between three stars and four stars, but gave Moon four for the acting and because I have a soft spot for independent films. Alternating between humor and heart-break, Rockwell fully captures the feeling of a man longing to go home, yet realizing that he’ll never make it.

Not a lot of explicit philosophy in this one, though it’s sure to spark conversation. The soundtrack by Clint Mansell (The Fountain) is full of feeling as well.

There you have it: my version of Moon the film review.
